Initiated by 2010 Freedom Challengers, the Freedom Challenge Scholarship Fund has now been launched.The Freedom Challenge Scholarship operates on the following basis:
• The scholarship applies to the Mariazell High School;
• Scholarships cover tuition, boarding fees and a book and uniform allowance;
• Scholarships operate in increments of R30 000;
• Every R30 000 raised covers three years of schooling, including boarding fees, for one scholar at Mariazell;
• Unless funds allow:
1. Scholarships will be awarded for three years;
2. Scholarships will be awarded for the FET phase of schooling (old National Senior Certificate) being Grade 10, 11 and 12;
• Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic promise;
• Applicants will be invited from schools located along the route of the trail in the Mehloding area (ie Little Umzimvubu to Naudes Nek);
• Monies raised will be managed through the Freedom Challenge account administered by the Wilderness Foundation.
